You should have received your notice in the January mailing that went out. As a reminder, the meeting is on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 1 pm, at the clubhouse. Please bring finger foods to share.

Howdy...I've been looking at properties on Lake of the Oaks for about the past year because I like many aspects of the lake community. I toured three properties last year. One thing that holds me back is the inability to rent out a cabin (for example, putting it on VRBO or Air BnB). I totally respect this decision by the community, however I was wondering if there has been serious discussion about rescinding this provision. Rescinding it would mean higher property valuations while losing some privacy/quietness...I understand the tough decision here. Please let me know if this is something you'd like to discuss more.

Thanks for the comment. I don't think that has ever been formally considered. My take is that the owners like to protect the privacy and peacefulness of the community. The uncertainty with renters would a huge threat to that. My personal opinion is that this would not change in the future. It takes a large percentage of the owners to change covenants/by-laws. Changes are not easily accomplished. All of this is my own opinion from my experience. If you would like contact information for the president of our board, I could get that to you. The how and why.

Years ago when I was looking for a lake front cabin I stumbled across a realtor ad for Lake of the Oaks. There was nothing on the web about our lake.

Everything had to be learned by chasing people down and making phone calls. I couldn't believe that in the age of the Internet, information about the lake was left in the Stone Age. I decided to do something about that when I became an owner.

Always interested in technology, I enjoy providing information and updates to fellow owners and prospects. Please let me know if its working.
