I've received a few emails asking about the events on the upcoming Independence day weekend.  I just spoke with Malinda Poulter, our Social Committee Chairperson, and she spelled it out for me.  Here's what I know.  The breakfast at the clubhouse is from 7 to 9 am.  Fishing Derby is from 9 to 11 am.  Kayak and peddle boat races, if we have them, will be announced at the breakfast.  Fish fry dinner (bring a dish) at the clubhouse at 5 pm.

Many people have extra guests with them on this weekend. If you can, please let Malinda know how many and for which dinner.  It helps them plan for how much food to prepare.  Also, if you can volunteer some time for set up at the clubhouse in the morning, please come by.  Help cleaning up afterwards is always appreciated as well.

I also heard that there may be a newsletter going out prior to that weekend.  So watch your mail just in case.

I'm always amazed at the fireworks that take place at the lake.  I think the effort people put into that make the "show" just as good as many small towns.

As a side note, I'd like to remind everyone that we, the owners, are responsible for our guests and their behavior any time they are at the lake.  This particularly applies to guests riding carts, 4 Wheelers, etc. around the lake.  Please remind them to stay on the roads/trails, and the speed limit is 20 mph.

    The how and why.

Years ago when I was looking for a lake front cabin I stumbled across a realtor ad for Lake of the Oaks.  There was nothing on the web about our lake.

Everything had to be learned by chasing people down and making phone calls.  I couldn't believe that in the age of the Internet,  information about the lake was left in the Stone Age.  I decided to do something about that when I became an owner.

Always interested in technology, I enjoy providing information and updates to fellow owners and prospects. Please let me know if its working.
