The turkey vultures were riding the thermals at about 6:30 this evening. I saw a large bird on the ice down by Gary Hetzel's place. I thought it was odd because I've never know a turkey vulture to sit on the ice. Got my binoculars out and saw it was a bald eagle. It took to the air and then came back down and caught a fish about 5 feet from the shore. Then it took off to a large tree near Bill and Carol Genck's cabin. Sat there in the tree and ate the fish. It was there long enough to where Maria and Antonio could come out and see it in the tree eating. That was pretty cool.

The how and why.Years ago when I was looking for a lake front cabin I stumbled across a realtor ad for Lake of the Oaks. There was nothing on the web about our lake. Archives
