Fishing Derby at the DAM 9-10:30AM Ages 3-17. Registration begins at 8:15AM WIN A PRIZE AND HAVE SOME FUN!! Thank you to the Hinkebein family and the Daughtry’s for pulling the Derby together! CURFEW REMINDER Curfew is 10PM for noise and that includes all firework displays must be completed by 10PM. No exceptions. Please let all guests and visitors know these rules. TRASH This holiday weekend is the worst for trash and we need to remind you ONLY garbage is allowed in the dumpsters. Do NOT put your old grills, broken appliances or items you just no longer want in the garbage receptacles. They will be overflowing with garbage as it is. There are recycling containers behind the dumpsters for cans and bottles and will be monitored over the weekend. Please use the recycling cans and dumpsters appropriately. A common problem. You need some heavy equipment to get a project done at the lake but it's quite an undertaking to arrange it and actually get the job done. Here's a great opportunity for lake owners.
Now you can rent Mark Bigelow (long time LOTO owner) and his excavator at the lake (They are a package deal). If you have terracing, excavating, trenching, tearing down of old outbuildings, general lot clearing, footings, etc. to do, call Mark. This is cheaper than you could rent the equipment and transport it yourself. Mark is an experienced operator and can get your project done more efficiently than learning how to operate one from the rental store yourself. It will be out at the lake for a period of time and the LOTO rate is $75.00/hr, 4 hr. minimum and $50 to move it. Give Mark a call at 217-242-9031. Enjoy more time at the lake and let Jared do what you don't want to. He'll mow your lawn once, or do it weekly. Give him a call when you have a project, or put him on a set schedule. Very reliable. I've used him and know many others who have. Great results!
Thanks to Randy and Terry Hughes for offering to take on this responsibility!! ![]()
Andy and Jared do an excellent job. I've used them a few times when I couldn't get to the lake or had too much else to do when I was here. A great backup for me but I know they are the primary caretakers for a number of our owners. Here is an updated list of the services they offer. Professional, very trustworthy, detailed, and just a couple of nice guys. They have family here as well. They are in the area almost every day. I'm sure they'd be interested in the area surrounding the lake as well. Call them for a free quote. 217-257-3031
Let's officially open the beach for the summer. Come to the beach shelter at noon on Saturday, May 26th for a free hot dog lunch. We'll have hot dogs, chips, water bottles, and juice drinks available. We cook quite a few each year but it is first come, first serve, until they are gone. If you know of anyone who can't make it due to being home bound, we'll wrap it up for you.I met Andy and Jared last weekend while they where cleaning leaves out of our neighbor's yard. They worked so hard that I was getting tired watching. If you don't want to do that yourself, or you would like someone to mow your yard for you, give them a call. Andy works just outside of Canton, so he's in the area everyday. 217-224-7831, or 217-257-3031.

Lake Of The Oaks Property Owners
You are invited to an Informational Meeting At the L.O.T.O. Club House Saturday July 22nd 2017 at 3:00 pm. Karel Rogers a Representative of NEMO CCC, (Northeast Missouri Community Conservation Coalition) will share what has been happening regarding the CAFO, (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) that's located just 2 miles SE of Lake Of The Oaks, as well as what's happening with other Missouri CAFO's. Karel Rogers comes from West of Heartland, over an hour drive away. Karel would like to clear up some Misconceptions as well as hear your Opinions and Concerns. You are welcome to share any knowledge of CAFO experiences you have at the meeting. All are Welcome; we look forward to seeing you. Another successful fundraiser is in the books. Our goal was $3,500 and with a final pledge received this week we raised $3,720!! Thank you to those that gave towards the new picnic tables for the Beach Shelter. This is just for the tables, the entire shelter project took many hours of volunteer work. Our Board of Directors initiated the project, thanks goes to them for doing so. It's heartwarming to see everyone come together and contribute in the different ways they can in order to realize a common goal for our community. The Lake of the Oaks is better because of it. The tables are on order and should be arriving soon! Donations received as of 6/23/17: 18 donations for a total of $3,720 Thank you to our donors. My mom passed and the funeral will be on Saturday. Many of you knew her and she loved the lake, our community, and all the gatherings at the Poulters and then the clubhouse. She always went to Hobby Lobby to buy something to donate to the raffle drawings. The lake was a place that she never had until we became owners, and she enjoyed it very much, as late as St. Patrick's Day weekend. The Shrine and the St. Patrick community were also special to her because they were so friendly. The dinners, fundraisers, masses, etc. were very meaningful to her.
My sister, Dona, and I are going to purchase a picnic table for the new shelter in her memory. Thanks to all for your understanding. Please consider donating towards the fundraiser for picnic tables at the beach pavilion. See the long post below. You can buy a whole table and have a plaque attached to it with your inscription for $875. Send your donations to me. Please make the check out to my name as this drive is separate from the association.
Tom Hornstein 7 Prestwick Drive Pekin, IL 61554 Donations received as of 6/7/17: 17 donations for a total of $3,670 Thank you to our donors. We raised about $4,500 and the result was a greater use of the beach area by our owners and guests. It seems to get more popular every year. Now, our board is using our funds to invest in a picnic shelter (see the concept drawing attached). It's going to cost over $4,000, and that's with 100% of the labor donated. I would like to see if we can get enough donations to provide 4 eight foot picnic tables for the new shelter, and have them match the ones on the beach. With taxes, shipping, and 4 tables, we're looking at $3,500. They are expensive, but they are commercial quality and the ones we have look great after a few years. All costs in, each table will be $875. There will only be 4. One table will be handicap accessible at the end, meaning the table would extend past the seat so a wheelchair can be pulled up to it. That came to mind when thinking about our lake resident Patrick Stevenson (RIP buddy). If you and your family would like to pick up the entire cost of a table, I will have an engraved "Donated By:" or "In Memory Of:", etc. tag mounted to the table, first come, first served on that. You can message me to commit and I'll reserve the table for you. Checks can be made out to me as we did last time. They can be mailed or delivered by hand. I'll post totals on the Facebook page. If you donate, I will post your name but NOT the amount, unless you ask me not to post your name at all. The number of donors last time impressed everyone. Tom Hornstein 7 Prestwick Drive Pekin, IL 61554 309-642-9297 Feel free to message me or call me with any questions, comments, ideas, etc. Please share this with your friends on Facebook and those not on Facebook to get the word out. I will also post this on the Facebook. -Thanks, Tom Well, here's some seriously awesome news. Our board took the initiative on this proposal. We're getting a picnic shelter down at the beach! It will be 16' wide and 38' long. It will be built similar to the covered portion of our clubhouse. It will be located up on the hill where the picnic table and grill are now. The old concrete that is up there will be covered and a new, larger pad will be poured. Bill Davis will be the project manager, and we should all be thankful for that. My guess is that there will be plenty of opportunities for those interested to pitch in and help. This is going to be a welcome addition to our list of amenities. A big thank you to our directors for making this happen!
